When the hot weather hits many people decide to go to the beaches and to cabins by lakes. This is the booming time for resort owners and camp ground managers. The airlines also fill most of the flights during this time. My husband and I no longer have children in the home so we do not have to work around school schedules. Because of this we have found that if we plan our vacations for the early part of May of the end of September we still have great weather, but we do not have to contend with the crowds or the peak season prices.

The past two years we have gone to the east coast for our vacations. We have found that we can stay for longer periods of time and have nicer accommodations because things are less expensive. We have looked into beach house rentals for years. We have always seen these great properties, but never thought we could afford to stay at them. Now that we plan our vacations during off peak seasons we can get the beach house rentals within our budget. We may spend a bit more than we would for a hotel, but because we have the entire house we can cook our own meals and spend less money on eating out at restaurants. We both love to cook and often times during our busy schedules at home we do not get a chance to do this together.

Last year we looked at a list of beach house rentals in Brigantine, New Jersey. We found a nice two bedroom older home that was for rent. We called the couple and they said that they ordinarily do not rent out in September, but they were going to be gone the first part of the month of September so we cold have the house for two weeks for the price of one if we agreed to take care of their dog and cat. We both love animals so we agreed to do this. The house sits on the beach as the beginning of the big house rentals. We agreed to arrive the morning the couple was leaving so they could show us where everything was and to go through the rules. They showed us where the kitchen items were that we could use as well as the food for the animals. The beds were made and they showed us where the laundry facilities were. We loved our two weeks on the beach. We walked, read and cooked. There were few others that were renting in the area so we had a great deal of privacy. It prefers moist, fertile, well-drained loams, but adapts to a wide range of soil conditions. Good tolerance for urban conditions. Tolerant of heavy pruning, and may be grown as a hedge. Native to Europe, the littleleaf linden has been widely planted in the U. S. as an ornamental shade tree because of its attractive foliage, dense, low-branched, pyramidal to ovate form and its tolerance for urban conditions. Ornamental features include fragrant pale yellow flowers in late spring, small nutlets with attached leafy wings (to 3.5 inches long) and ovate, shiny dark green leaves (to 3 inches long). This is a medium to large deciduous tree, typically growing to 50-70 feet (less frequently to 100 feet) tall. It has fragrant, creamy yellow flowers in drooping cymes appear in June. When a tree is in full bloom, bees often visit in such abundant numbers that humming can be heard many feet from the tree. The flowers give way to nutlets that are attached to narrow bract-like wings (top 3.5 inches long). The fall color is an undistinguished pale green to pale yellow. This is a great shade, lawn, or street tree and from a landscaping perspective many consider this species to be the best of all lindens.

4)European Linden (Tilia x europaea) Zones This tree is easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade.
